Why this happens
Not every packaged product is available in public food databases. Spartn checks multiple data sources, but some store-brand, regional, or newer items may still be missing.
Before you try again
- Make sure the barcode is clear, flat, and well lit.
- Scan the full code without glare or damaged packaging.
- If possible, type the barcode number manually to rule out a camera issue.
Barcode format matters
Barcode lookups work best when the scanned value is a standard UPC or EAN code. If the label is custom, partial, or not a standard retail barcode, a match may fail.
If the food still is not found
- Search by product name instead of barcode.
- Use the manual entry flow for the item.
- Create a saved food or recipe if this is something you eat often.
When to contact support
If a common product repeatedly fails to match, send support:
- The barcode number
- The product name
- A photo of the front label and barcode
That gives us the best chance of checking whether the issue is the barcode format, the external data source, or the product listing itself.
